Tonight, 10-20-21, there is a full Hunter’s Moon, the first full moon after the Harvest Moon, so named as early as 1710. In autumn, after crops were cleared from the fields, hunters used the light of the full Hunter’s Moon to hunt for game to get them through the upcoming winter. The Hunter’s Moon often has beautiful orange and yellow hues. Native Americans also called it the blood moon, sanguine moon, travel moon, and dying grass moon.
